Come and join our exciting and growing team. We are currently seeking a Technician and Safety Trainer who is knowledgeable about safety and the day-to-day responsibilities of a service technician. This person must have the ability to convey that knowledge to others while instructing, guiding, and ensuring a safe working environment. This position will be responsible for training, developing and evaluating technicians while maximizing technician safety knowledge. This position may be in the field working with technicians in a hands-on teaching approach or in a classroom.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Train all technicians on cable, internet and phone services to include installation and troubleshooting both coaxial cable and fiber.
  • Train all technicians on the requirements needed to stay compliant with all local, state, and federal requirements and how to identify and correct any faults.
  • Train technicians on systems used to read/route their jobs and troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Design, implement, coordinate and conduct technician training courses with an emphasis on safety.
  • Introduce and educate technicians on customer premise equipment and PPE (personal protection equipment)
  • Maintain records of all technician training courses and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal safety-related regulations are met.
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the technician training program and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct technician audits to ensure process and procedures are correctly and safely being implemented.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest safety legislation and best practices.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a field technician in the cable industry. Training experience – even on the job- is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cable, internet, phone installations, troubleshooting and disconnects.
  • Extensive knowledge of all local, state and federal requirements and standards in the telecommunications industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, regulations, and equipment, often obtained through a combination of formal education and practical practice.
  • Must have successfully completed the NSC Defensive Driving Course-Certified Instructor preferred.
  • Experience with BS 7671:2018 for the positioning of concealed cables
  • Must have completed and be able to train OSHA Ladder Safety- OSHA Authorized trainer is preferred.
  • Experienced in FHWA Traffic cone placement
  • Must be experienced in aerial bucket lifts and have completed the OSHA Aerial and Scissor lift course.
  • Strong knowledge of PPE and the ability to share the importance of Workplace Safety.
  • Strong communication skills are a must in order to educate and train others.
  • To be able to motivate employees, strong leadership skills are required, this will ensure employees adhere to technician process and procedures.
  • Candidate must be organized, detail-oriented and committed to first time resolution and decrease accidents.
  • Valid state driver’s license, with an excellent driving record.
  • Work under minimal supervision, within broad guidelines of procedures and goals.
  • Must be able to apply technical expertise to a variety of situations, evaluate problems, and implement the best solutions.
  • Must be able to carry and climb a 250lb rate ladder and carry up to 50lbs
  • May be required to conduct training in non-classroom environment or ride along with technicians
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
